Integrating D365 and Power BI

Here are the steps to integrate:

In the D365 application:

  1. Navigate to Sales è Settings è Administration è System Settings
  2. Click on Reporting tab in the System Settings popup
  3. Select Yes in the Allow Power BI visualization embedding
  4. Click OK to save the settings

  5. In the Power BI online application, create a Dashboard – the one which we want to be displayed in the D365 application.
  6. Refresh D365 application.
  7. Navigate to Sales è Dashboards
  8. Click the NEW dropdown option in the New Dashboard item
  9. Now, we can find the Power BI Dashboard here!!
  10. Then select the Power BI Dashboard, a popup to add the new dashboard to D365 appears.
  11. Select the Dashboard from the Dashboard list.
  12. Select Enable for Mobile check box, if you need to have the dashboard on mobile.
  13. Click Save to add it to D365 dashboard
  14. Once the Power BI Dashboard is added to the D365 dashboard, the various options are
    Edit è to make changes to the dashboard that we are adding Delete è to delete this incase where we added the incorrect one or we do not want to add this Set As Default è to set this dashboard as the default dashboard – to make it be visible as the dashboard as the page loads every time Assign è to Assign to another User or Team Refresh All è to refresh the dashboard Open in Power BI è to open this in the Power BI interface
  15. Once the changes are made, click on Save As
  16. In the Dashboard Properties popup, give an appropriate name and description
  17. Select Enable for Mobile check box, if you need to have the dashboard on mobile.
  18. Click on Save to save the changes to D365.
  19. The new Marks of the Student Dashboard, which we created in Power BI is now ready to viewed in D365.

This is a custom dashboard that we created in Power BI. The Power BI sample dashboards like Customer Profitability Sample, Human Resources, etc., can also be populated in D365.
